Database Wrapper

The Database Wrappers are the modules which handle the actual access to a database. Data Abstraction Layer objects refer to the Database Wrappers to read from or write to a data file. This makes BibWorm independent from any specific data format so that in theory users can continue using a database previously maintained with a different bibliographic tool such as EndNote or Bibus, provided a suitable Database Wrapper is available. It also means, that while BibWorm-specific database and XML specifications are currently planned to make use of all of BibWorm's functions, users are not dependent on any particular database or file formats. The standalone and web clients will use a specific Database Wrapper to communicate with the BibWorm research group web service.
